Paarl Boys’ High School has stepped up to host the Top 12 Boys’ U14 Hockey Tournament in 2022. As one of the oldest boys’ schools in South Africa, it is fitting for Paarl Boys’ to host this prestigious tournament.

Schools’ hockey is on the run for the 2022 season and there is great excitement among all players for the resumption of competitive hockey at school level- for the first time in over two years!

Who will claim top spot? Who will qualify as the Top School in 2022?

It promises to be a very interesting year of hockey culminating in the U14 TOP SCHOOLS HOCKEY TOURNAMENT in August.

Here are more details regarding this unique opportunity for the U14 boys’ teams:

  • To qualify a team has to play at least 8 games.
  • Start sending all your game scores to the following email address:

What you need to know:

The Tournament Committee will apply the following criteria before inviting teams to the Tournament:

  1. The top 10 teams as per rankings on 31 May 2022 will be invited to compete in the Tournament.
  2. Official Rankings of SA School Sports Magazine ONLINE will be used.
  3. The scores of ALL games played from March 2022 must be submitted to SA School Sports Magazine to qualify.
  4. Only teams ranked no. 1 – 10 on the SA School Sports Magazine ranking, as mentioned above, automatically qualify to be invited. This is subject to all Tournament criteria being adhered to.
  5. Should any of the mentioned 10 teams not be able to participate, the 11th or 12th team etc. automatically qualify to be invited.
  6. The Tournament Committee has the discretion to invite any 2 other teams to participate in the Tournament. No correspondence will be entered into regarding this aspect and their decision will be regarded as final.
  7. A team may have a maximum of 16 players.
