ITF Junior Tournament results and highlights:

Boys

Yesterday (Thursday)  was the quarter-finals of the boys and girls singles as well as the semi-finals of the boys and girls doubles. Some really good matches were played during the top 8 boys singles quarter-finals. The number one seed from India, Yuvan Nandal, played against Donghyun Hwang from Korea in a very entertaining three-set match.

There was a great quality match between French player, Carel Aubriel Ngounoue who played against Egor Pleshivtsev from Russia. They both struck the ball well and Carel won in straight sets. Carel comes from a family of professional Tennis players, his sister won junior Wimbledon this year and his older sister also plays in the Pro Circuit.

Denzel Seetso from Lesotho has a good match but he lost against Andreas Timini from Cyprus. The last quarter-final match was played by Gur Trakhtenberg from Israel against an impressive Tianhu Zhang from China. This was one of the best matches of the day, both players were tough but Tianhu ended up winning. This match set up good semi-finals for today.  The number one seed in the semi-finals today is the Indian boy Yuvan Nandal who will be playing Ngounoue from France.

Girls

The first match of the girls quarter-finals was a number one seed, Mika Buchnik from Israel who won against Yichen Zhao from China. The next quarter-final was against the seventh seed, Maya Iyengar from India who played against Gaeul Jang from Korea. The only South African player left in the draw was Donna le Roux who played against the Norwegian, Emily Sartz-Lunde. Emily was just too tough for Donna and ended up winning the match. The number eight seed, Anna Maria Fedotova played against the number two seed, Gloriana Nahum from Benin who won. This was the second-best match in the ladies quarter-finals.

For the semi-finals, Mika Buchnik will be taking on the Korean player Gaeul Jang and Norwegian Emily will play against Gloriana Nahum.

Lastly, the semi-finals of the boys doubles were also played yesterday the finals are taking place today. Denzil Seetso from Lesotho and his partner from Switzerland are through to the finals.
