Paul Roos Gym Upsets SACS in Epic Hibbert Shield Final, Shakes Up School Hockey Rankings!
The prestigious Hibbert Shield has crowned a new champion, and the school hockey rankings have a fresh twist! In a dramatic turn of events, Paul Roos Gym (PRG) managed to pull off what no other team has achieved this season – defeating the seemingly unstoppable SACS.
The final match was a nail-biter, with SACS pulling ahead by a commanding 3-goal lead. But PRG refused to back down. They fought tooth and nail, clawing their way back into contention and forcing the game into penalties. Ultimately, the pressure proved too much for SACS, as PRG emerged victorious with penalty shootout win.
This historic victory sees PRG leapfrog into the second-place position in the school hockey rankings. SACS, however, maintains their No. 1 spot despite their first defeat in 14 games. The highly competitive Hibbert Shield showcased the strength of South African school hockey, with 10 out of the top 12 teams battling it out for the title.
With plenty of exciting school hockey action still to come this season, the race for the top remains wide open.
