The long wait is over! The competition has been fierce, with top teams battling for coveted spots in the prestigious Paarl Gim U16 Top Schools Tournament, arguably the premier event on the calendar. With the qualification cut-off on May 30, 2024, now behind us, here’s how the U16 school hockey rankings stand.
Paarl Gim will proudly host the U16 Girls Top School Tournament, automatically inviting the top 12 teams—a fantastic chance for top talents to showcase their skills and passion for the game. And for those currently ranked 13-23 DSG Makhanda will be hosting the Rising Champions Challengers Cup. The contest has been bitterly close, with very little separating the teams, promising two intensely competitive tournaments.
Hats off to all the teams participating in these prestigious event! A special shout-out to Paarl Gim, who remain the team to beat, holding their position as the No. 1 ranked U16 team for yet another week.
Keep up the hard work and sportswomanship, everyone! The future of hockey looks bright with such dedicated young athletes leading the way. Let’s celebrate the spirit of competition and the joy of school hockey!
