College’s canoeists partnered with the talented Epworth girls for the Mixed Doubles Interschools race over the weekend from Lions River to Midmar Dam. The combined teams took top honours as well as 3rd and 5th places overall.

Overview Sporting Achievements

College’s athletes continued their outstanding form winning the aQuelle Athletics series overall and producing excellent results. The week ended College’s summer sport fixtures which included basketball, water polo and cricket against Kearsney. The College U14A basketball team did very well at the Jeppe Festival winning 10 of their 14 matches. With boys also competing in debating, squash, canoeing and golf, it was another busy sporting week for Maritzburg College.
Basketball College won 12 of their 22 basketball matches against Kearsney with the 1st team completing an outstanding unbeaten season winning 63-56.

Canoeing:

Basketball:

Jeppe Festival The U14A basketball team competed in the Jeppe Festival winning 10 of their 14 matches.

Water polo

In some very tight matches, College won two of their water polo fixtures against Kearsney and drew one but lost five.

Cricket

College played nine 100-ball matches against Kearsney during the week, winning five of the games, although the 1st XI match was unfortunately abandoned.

Tennis

College’s tennis team took on Riverwood this week, winning their matches 12-0. Congratulations to L Puddu who was part of the U15 Midlands team that finished 2nd in the inter district trials over the weekend.
