The first Girl’s First Team Hockey Rankings for 2023 is out and there are several teams that are off to a great start this season.
Most would have expected to see Oranje Meisies at the top of the table but Rhenish with an unbeaten run is close in second spot and look formidable in these early stages.
Voortrekker Bethlehem who finished the 2022 season in 6th position are way down the table following a string of poor results and will be hoping to find a bit of their previous year’s form and start heading upwards.
It is still the very early stages to the season and much will change as more matches are played and especially the cross-provincial encounters. This year the Oranje Meisies Super 12 Tournament will once again be the goal that many of the top teams will be aiming to qualify for.
As always in order to qualify for the Oranje Meisies Super 12 Tournament, the top 12 teams on the SA School Sports Hockey Rankings will get an automatic invitation to the tournament where the best of the best will battle it out in Bloemfontein.
