The North and South T20 tournament helped to shake some life into this week’s First XI School Cricket Rankings with several teams feeling the impact of the shorter format.
Rondebosch suffered a dent to their lead but still managed to hold onto the No.1 position and their big match against SACS this weekend could well be a decider on who finishes top of the table.
Waterkloof held all the aces during the North South event going on to win the tournament and are clearly the leaders in T20’s. Suffering just the one loss, when they rested their front-line attack, they went on to dominate some of the top cricket teams in the country and have moved into the top five zone on the rankings.
Grey High School and Grey College tumble out of the Top 10 following a poor showing during the North South, and Westville are nudged up the table after finishings at the best team from the ‘south’ which included a win over Rondebosch.
The gaps between the top teams have narrowed which should ensure some movement on the table as the final matches for 2022 are played out.
