The latest Belgotex Sport First Team Girls Hockey Rankings are in, and as the season gathers momentum, the picture is starting to take shape — but there is still plenty to play for.
For over 20 years, SA School Sports has been tracking school hockey results, producing the original rankings platform that rewards performance, consistency, and strength of opposition. The formula remains simple at its core:
win your matches, beat strong opposition, and perform consistently — and you will climb.
Each week, results are processed through a points-based system that takes into account:
- Match outcomes
- Strength of opposition
- Margin of victory
This ensures the rankings reflect not just who is winning, but who is performing against the best.
Qualification Is on the Line
These rankings carry real significance in 2026.
The race is on for qualification to two of the country’s premier school hockey tournaments, both taking place from 7–10 August:
- The Top 12 teams will earn invitation to the prestigious Faitree Oranje Meisies Super 12
- Teams ranked 13–25 will qualify for the highly competitive La Rochelle Challengers Cup
With qualification determined directly from the SA School Sports Rankings, every result matters — and every position gained or lost could prove decisive.
As the weeks unfold, expect movement, surprises, and rising contenders as more results filter through and the competition intensifies.
