U16 Girls Hockey Rankings: The Road to Paarl and Makhanda Reaches the Finish Line
The 2025 school hockey season has been a thrilling ride for South Africa’s U16 girls teams, with one clear objective in sight: qualify for one of two prestigious end-of-season tournaments — the U16 Paarl Gim Top Schools Tournament or the DSG Makhanda Rising Champions Challengers Cup.
With the 12 June 2025 qualification cut-off now behind us, the latest rankings reveal which teams have done enough to secure their place. Only schools that submitted results for at least 12 matches were eligible for consideration, making consistency and depth key throughout the season.
The Top 12 teams in the rankings have earned their invitations to the elite Paarl Gim Top Schools Tournament, where the very best will battle it out for national bragging rights. Meanwhile, teams ranked 13 to 24 qualify for the Rising Champions Challengers Cup hosted by DSG — a tournament that has become a showcase of grit, talent, and promise.
Congratulations to every team that cracked the top 24! Whether you’re heading to Paarl or Makhanda, your hard work and dedication have paid off in a big way.
The journey doesn’t end here — rankings will continue until the season’s final whistle, capturing the highs, breakthroughs, and rising talent still to come.
