Who would you say is the Top Boy Sports Schools of 2022? No doubt we will all have our favourites and any attempt to compile a Top Boy Sports School Rankings is bound to be contentious.
There are several reasons for this. Firstly it is difficult to include all the various sports offered in the equation and secondly many schools tend to specialise in certain sports and are well-known as leaders in a particular code but perform less well in other sports. If for example a school is a leading rugby school, yet perform poorly in other sports it may be difficult to see a top rugby school languishing in the lower rungs of the rankings. It could be that their cricket, football, basketball or hockey has counted against them.
We have taken the six boy sports that SA School Sports generates rankings for, Rugby, Cricket, Hockey, Water Polo, Basketball and Football, combined them to work out how schools have performed across all these codes. In other words which schools are the top ‘all-rounders’ of 2022 and which schools have performed consistently across all these sporting codes?
As mentioned, some good sporting schools may not offer some of these codes and so lose out in garnering some valuable ranking points. Others may excel in other sports such as athletics which have not been included.
Naturally there will be some conjecture and contention, however hopefully this gives a rough idea of which schools have led the way in school sport in 2022.
