BASKETBALL TRIANGULAR
This weekend, the St Andrew’s College Basketball Club proudly hosted Kingswood College, Queen’s College, and DSG in a festive basketball triangular. The day was packed with thrilling basketball action, close games, and an electric atmosphere that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
The 1st Team faced off against both Queen’s College and Kingswood College in highly contested matches that provided the perfect preparation for their upcoming tour. Each opposing team challenged the St Andrew’s College squad, placing them in uncomfortable positions that required them to dig deep and rally back into the games.
The final match of the day was between the St Andrew’s College and Kingswood College 1st Teams. With St Andrew’s College trailing 11-17 at halftime and momentum firmly in Kingswood College’s favour, the St Andrew’s College crowd rallied behind their team with some stellar war cries. The 1st Team answered the call, returning to the court with renewed energy and confidence that shifted the momentum in their favour.
In a remarkable comeback, the boys turned the game around and clinched a fantastic victory with a final score of 36-27. It was a brilliant ending to a day filled with hard-fought battles and team spirit. Well done to all the players for their outstanding performances and teamwork! The St Andrew’s College basketball club emerged from the triangular without a single loss.
BASKETBALL VS GREY HIGH SCHOOL
The 2024/2025 basketball season kicked off with an exciting showdown against local rivals Grey High School. The morning was filled with thrilling basketball action from both schools, creating a positive and electric atmosphere around the courts.
The St Andrew’s College U14 teams showcased their skills but struggled to convert their chances into points. While the U15A team came out firing on all cylinders, brimming with confidence from their recent tournament success to secure a comfortable win.
The highlight of the day was the exhilarating 1st Team game, which was tightly contested from start to finish. Both teams displayed exceptional skill and determination, making for an intense match. Unfortunately, the St Andrew’s College 1st Team was unable to capitalise on their opportunities or maintain their momentum of the third quarter into the final quarter of the game, allowing Grey High School to emerge victorious.
Overall, it was a fantastic start to the season, filled with promise and excitement for the games to come!

STAYERS WOODRIDGE WATER POLO TOURNAMENT
The newly formed 1st Water Polo team traveled to the Annual Woodridge Water Polo Tournament this past weekend.
The team played three pool games, starting strong with a 12-2 win over Merrifield College, followed by an 11-2 win over Woodridge College, a team we narrowly beat 7-6 just two weeks ago. The final pool game was a clinical performance, resulting in a 27-0 victory over Bridge House School.
This set the team up for a quarter-final match against Pearson High School, who have been playing some good water polo. The defensive effort was excellent, and the team took a 13-0 lead, conceding just one goal at the end to win 13-1.
Next, they faced rivals Grey High School, who had beaten us 5-2 at the start of the season. This time, the team controlled the game from beginning to end, and despite missing several opportunities, they secured a 7-5 victory, setting up a rematch of the 2023 final against a physical Selborne College team.
Calum Emslie opened the scoring with a backshot, but some defensive errors saw the team fall behind 3-1. However, the boys fought back, leveling the score at 5-all with 2 minutes and 30 seconds remaining. A crucial extra-man opportunity led to Tiago Williams scoring from a cross pass. The team held on to claim a 6-5 victory.
