The latest Boys’ First Team School Hockey Rankings have been published, with St Stithians claiming the top spot. They are currently unbeaten in the 2023 season, displaying excellent form and impressing both fans and opponents alike.
Garsfontein is in second place, a tenacious team that has shown exceptional skill and fighting spirit on the field this season. Wynberg is in third place, closely behind Garsfontein, and both teams will be looking to climb the rankings as the season continues.
It’s worth noting that the school hockey rankings formula is calculated using several factors beyond the result of a match. Although the win/loss/draw record is significant, the rankings also consider the strength of the opposition and the margin of victory or defeat. This means that not all wins and defeats are equal. Coaches are urged to send their results to [email protected] to ensure their team’s performance accurately captured in the rankings.
It is essential to remember that the school hockey season is ongoing, and more results will be added, which may change the rankings. Therefore, any apparent anomalies are usually rectified as the season progresses.
