Boland Landbou Stuns Bishops in Upset Win and shake up the school cricket rankings.
In a shocking turn of events, Boland Landbou pulled off a remarkable 21-run victory over Bishops in their recent cricket match. On paper, Bishops were expected to dominate the encounter, but Boland’s shrewd captaincy and solid batting performance turned the tables.
Boland Landbou won the toss and elected to bat , a strategic decision when playing under the Bishops lights that paid off handsomely. Opener Stephan Conradie laid a strong foundation with a well-crafted 59 runs, despite losing his partners cheaply at the other end. Marais du Plessis and Louis Du Plessis contributed valuable runs to set Bishops a modest target of 160 from 40 overs.
However, Bishops’ chase was derailed by Boland’s disciplined bowling attack. Gunther Schmidt claimed three wickets for 30 runs, while Louis Du Plessis and Francois Prins each snared two wickets at an economy rate of less than three runs per over. Boland’s bowlers consistently applied pressure, ultimately securing the upset victory.
Elsewhere in the country, there were other notable performances. Centurion’s Charl Prinsloo also impressed with a century against Cornwall. While Selborne College’s Tris Gilbert’s century (104) was in vain against Grey High School, his performance highlighted his talent.
