The latest Sportsmans Warehouse SA School Sports First XI Rankings see Rondebosch continue their dominant run, maintaining their unbeaten streak and holding firm at the No.1 spot. Their consistency throughout the season has set the standard, and as we move deeper into the term, they remain the team to beat.
Bishops have made significant progress on the rankings ladder, with some late results from earlier in the season now factored in. Their upward trajectory reflects their growing form, and they will be eager to keep the momentum going.
Meanwhile, Garsfontein—another unbeaten side—narrowly escaped a shock defeat in a tense T20 encounter against St. Albans. Chasing a modest target of 110, Garsfontein found themselves in trouble but managed to scrape through in the final over with just one wicket in hand.
DHS Clinch Consecutive Clifton T20 Tournament Titles
DHS showcased their prowess in the shorter format by claiming their second consecutive Clifton T20 Tournament Title. A standout performance came from Josh Van Biljon, who tore through Waterkloof’s bowling attack with an explosive 103 off just 44 balls. In the semi- final against Kearsney, DHS remained in control, securing a 16-run victory to cap off a successful tournament when they beat Westville in the final.
Notable Performances of the Week
Several players delivered exceptional performances this past week, reinforcing their credentials as future stars:
- William Beamish (St Andrew’s College) led from the front with a superb 111 runs, setting up a commanding win over Selborne College.
- James Robb-Quinlan (Bishops) hammered SACS into submission with a thunderous 173 runs including 11 x6 and 15 x 4’s.
- Matthew Seymore (Paul Roos Gym) played a crucial role in their victory over Paarl Boys’ High, finishing unbeaten on 111.
- Riley Miller (Waterkloof) was once again in top form, hammering 123 not out against Glenwood.
- Seth Simpson (Westville) put on a T20 masterclass, smashing a century to guide his side to victory over Hilton.
As the season unfolds, the battle for rankings supremacy intensifies, and with the talent on display, we can expect more thrilling performances in the coming weeks.
