Soccer Report: Kearsney College 1st beat Clifton 1st 3-1

Both teams started nervously, and took some time to get their rhythm. This resulted in a slow and uneventful first half, with the teams going into the break with neither team having scored.

The second half began somewhat frantically as the coaches gave their teams specific instructions. Kearsney managed to score soon after the kick-off, from a cross into the box. This gave their players some confidence and they began to dominate the match, playing a passing game and keeping possession for long periods.

This enabled Kearsney striker Awande Mbonambi to score a header for his team’s second goal. But while they relaxed at this good fortune, Clifton came back strongly and kept the Kearsney goalkeeper alert, as they took many shots at goal. This persistence eventually resulted in them scoring.

Clifton’s players pushed forward for an equaliser, but Kearsney defended well.

The home team then countered an attack towards the end of the game, scoring again for a final 3-1 result to Kearsney.
