The second day of the inaugural U14 Boys’ Top Schools’ was as entertaining as the first day for both the spectators and the players. The final, fiercely contested, pool games were competed by the lunch break and then action started after lunch with the cross pools.
Affies took on Grey Bloemfontein in a closely fought 1-0 to Grey College. Grey College captain Raffie Kambanis took the Man of the Match award along with the GK from Affies Xander Human.
Fairmont HS fell victim to Paarl Boys’ 2-4, while Stellenberg beat Paarl Gimnasium 3-0.
Paul Roos Gimnasium and Grey PE provided a spectacular game eventually Paul Roos victorious with 1 goal. The second semi-final of the day was an evenly matched game that went to an 8-second shoot out where despite their depleted numbers, Parel Vallei HS won by 2-1.
In Monday’s games, Affies take on Grey College for positions 9 and 10, Paarl Gimnasium versus Fairmont 7 and 8. Hosts Paarl Boys’ High School against Stellenberg HS for 5 and 6, while Grey High School from PE and Wynberg (which should be a cracker!). The final will be played between Paul Roos and Parel Vallei at 12:30.
