This week’s First XV SA School Sports Rugby Rankings shows little change at the top end of the table despite a weekend that saw its fair share of upsets.
Boishaai, who perhaps were never going to maintain the level they showed a week earlier against Paarl Gim, failed to keep a rampant Outeniqua at bay and were forced to concede their third loss of the season.
With Grey College still eager to complete their season ender against Paul Roos Gym, everything indicates that Grey have timed their season perfectly, with a win against PRG almost certainly assuring them the No.1 spot for 2022.
However, as we have seen this year, there are not unbeaten sides and upsets are not that rare in 2022. None-the-less the win by Outeniqua sees them rise to 8th position on the table a good reward for a hard-fought for season.
Maritzburg College continue to build momentum at the end of the season and edged out KES in a tough arm-wrestle of the match. Nudging up to 25th position the Glenwood return match gives both KZN teams the opportunity to finish in the Top 20 for the season.
Affies marched on with a big 54-19 win over neighbours Pretoria Boys High which has narrowed the gap between them and Boishaai.
