The Independent Schools Week provided some much need cross-provincial matches that have had some impact on this week’s First XI Cricket Rankings.
Rondebosch remain at the top of the table after their comfortable win over Grey College where leg-spinner Alex Combrinck snatched 5/18 in a great spell of bowling. However, the much anticipated clash with rivals SACS ended in a tame draw. Set a gettable total of 205 for the win the SACS batsmen were dogged in their resistance but were still 90 runs short after 50 overs.
There were several top performances during the week which included a number of centuries and five-fors.
Kwena Maphaka ripped through the Hilton College top order with 5 scalps which dismantled their run chase before it began in a great spell of fast bowling. Matthew Brodziak was once again in the wickets with 5/38 for Bishops in their win over St.Davids.
Wynberg’s Kyle Williams scored 103 runs against Grey College, with Ross Boast from Hilton College also notching up an unbeaten 103 against Cornwall Hill.
St Andrews School’s Letlotlo Likhi claimed 5/17 in their victory over Kearsney College while his teammate Connor Nel took 6/16 against the Titans Academy.
