Grey High School move into the second spot on this week’s SA School Sports First XI Cricket Rankings after a successful tour of the Western Cape.
Taking on some of the biggest names in school cricket, Grey High School enjoyed victories over SACS and Wynberg. Their narrow defeat to Rondebosch the only blemish on what was a strong display from the Ggeberha outfit.
Rondebosch still hold onto their top spot although they have lost some ground following a defeat to Affies. Janko Purchase played brilliantly for his 102 runs to set up a target that was too much of a challenge for the Bosch batters on the day.
Some other notable performances came from Litha Kraal from SACS who once again was amongst the wickets taking 5/7 against Paul Roos Gym. William September from Paul Roos Gym clobbered an unbeaten 126 runs against the touring UK side Brentwood.
Bishops Matthew Brodziak claimed another five-for against Paarl Boys High returning figures of 5/46 in his teams victory. Pretoria Boys High bowler Adam Cannata helped to skittle out St Albans with his 5/19, whilst St.Stithian’s run machine Lhunadre Pretorius notched up another ton with a massive 160* against St Davids.
