Few would dispute that SACS have put in a master class this season and are ostensibly the leading team in the nation after enjoying one of their finest years in the pool.
It has been St Stithians all the way this season with an unbeaten run of 27 matches as they have taken home every trophy on offer. Saints lead this week’s Girls Water Polo Rankings again and it seems unlikely they will be caught.
SACS are still laying claim to the No.1 spot on this week’s Boy’s Water Polo Rankings but the field has closed on them and it is looking like several teams could well be serious contenders in 2019.
In 2018 it was Pearson who ended the season as the leading team in the country and although they have started well once against we are looking at St Stithians who are taking the No.1 spot for this week on the Water Polo Rankings.
SACS put on a powerful performance last week at the St Andrews College Shield Tournament where they overcame the strong Clifton team in the final match to clinch the top spot on this week’s SA School Sports Rankings.
Still very early days in the 2019 Water Polo season with several of the big teams yet to play enough matches to get included on this year’s rankings but in another week or two we can expect many of the usual suspects heading to the top of the table.
Virtually from the start of the 2018 season there has been one team that has been shining above the rest in the water polo pools across the country. It therefore comes as no surprise that Pearson finish the year as the No.1 Water Polo team in South Africa after completing a terrific season.
It was yet another impressive season by Clifton who have completed the season as the top ranked water polo side in the country after a gruelling season.
Rondebosch and Glenwood both recorded good wins last week which keeps them still at the top of the SA School Sports Rankings for this week with Selborne College remaining in the top three.
