Top “All-Rounder” Sport Rankings?

We were interested at trying to find out which boy school’s are amongst the top “all-rounders” in South Africa when it came to school sport. Let us say right at the outset that this is by no means inclusive of all the sports played at the various schools as it doesn’t take into consideration sports such as basketball, swimming, water polo, athletics and some others.

However we took a sampling of three sports that are played by the majority of schools, Rugby, Hockey and Cricket and made use of the rankings we have on these individual sports. By using a rudimentary equation of compiling all these rankings into a single ranking we have come up with a Top 40 “All Rounder” ranking for 2014.

Take a look at how these rankings have turned out. Bear in mind some schools do particularly well in other sports not included in the rankings so it is not conclusive proof of which schools are the most versatile and well rounded in school sports. It is also based on the performances of this year where some schools may have not achieved what they have in previous years. However perhaps it does provide a helpful indication of some of the country’s most comprehensive sporting schools.
