A surprising defeat for Waterkloof at the hands of Middelburg has shaken up the SA School Sports First XI Cricket Rankings as we approach the season’s final weeks.
After losing the toss in the Titans League semi-final, Waterkloof struggled on a dry pitch and were bowled out for only 117 runs. Middelburg’s Gavin Genis was the star of the day, taking 6/51 in a truly memorable performance. This loss sees Waterkloof slide down the rankings, making room for Wynberg and DHS to climb.
Benni Hansen again showed his strength for Wynberg, scoring 125 runs in a decisive win over SACS, propelling them to the No.1 position this week. DHS, with only two losses this season, cruised past Clifton with an 8-wicket victory. Meanwhile, Rondebosch regained their footing with a solid 6-wicket win over Bishops. Noteworthy performances this week included SA U19 seamer Ntando Soni of Glenwood, who took an impressive 5/13 against Northwood.
