Sturrock Park to Host U15 Schools Football Championships

Get ready for a thrilling showcase of young talent as the 2024 edition of the National Schools Championships kicks off at Sturrock Park in Gauteng from 8-10 August 2024!

Eighteen provincial teams, featuring both girls’ and boys’ categories, will battle it out over an action-packed weekend. Hosted by the South African Football Association (SAFA) in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education, Sports, Arts and Culture, and SA School Sports, this tournament promises to be a highlight on the school sports calendar.

Nine provincial teams (boys and girls) will go head-to-head for the prestigious title of South African U15 Schools Champions. The excitement will reach its peak as the top teams are crowned South African National Schools Champions.

Adding to the stakes, players who impress the SAFA Technical scouts will earn invitations to the upcoming U15 National Team camp. These rising stars will compete for a coveted spot in the final team representing South Africa at the African Schools Championships in Namibia from 9-10 September 2024. They may also earn a place at the SAFA Academy in 2025.

school footballThe pressure is on for the winning teams to follow in the footsteps of their illustrious predecessors. South Africa has dominated the African Schools Championships, with Edendale Technical School clinching three consecutive titles and Clapham High and Ubuntu High Schools making their mark in the boys’ section.

Catch all the action live! Matches will be broadcast on SABC (SABC+ and DDT Channel 4) and on the SuperSport Schools app and Channel 216 throughout the tournament.
