In this week’s School Cricket First XI Rankings, Bishops continues to hold onto the top spot, despite their draw with SACS, who fought valiantly to secure a share of the points.
However, the biggest upset of the school cricket weekend came from Wynberg’s commanding victory over Rondebosch, dampening the latter’s hopes of repeating their 2023 success. Xavier Garvs played a pivotal role in setting up Wynberg’s triumph, scoring a patient 112 runs, with 70 runs coming from boundaries.
In KZN it appears that Hilton College have regained their winning formula after another big win this time against Clifton thanks in part to their new player Jayden Roux (formally from Clifton) who took 4/5 in their win.
Other standout performances include Tre Gilbert’s impressive century for Selborne against Graeme College, Mohamed Hanslo’s powerful display for St. Stithians scoring 112 runs against St.Benedicts, and Ruben Maree’s memorable 137 runs for Grey College against Grey High School, accompanied by Darion Rabie’s 5/51.
Coaches are reminded to ensure their results are submitted promptly to keep the school cricket rankings up-to-date.
