SCHOOL RUGBY

Worcester Gimnasium pulled off an exciting 36-31 win over Durban High School in a thrilling encounter that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very end.

The game was a showcase of attacking rugby, with both teams displaying exceptional skill and determination. Worcester managed to capitalize on their opportunities, launching a counter-attack that proved too much for DHS to handle.

The match saw a number of standout moments, including a great run from Alton Hendricks that resulted in an early lead for Worcester, and a superb offload from DHS’s Deano Boesak to set up Florenson Ockhuis for a try.

DHS’s lineout maul proved to be a potent weapon, leading to a try from Ntando Mavuso and a second from the diminutive winger. Carick Kustoor was excellent with the boot, nailing a 40m penalty to keep Worcester in the game.

A Maurice Willemse try extended the DHS lead after the break, but Alungile Mothibe hit back for Worcester, followed by a try from Thando Luthuli for DHS.

With less than 10 minutes on the clock, Ryan Jacobs and Mothibe each scored a try to level the scores at 31-all. However, it was Hope Dliso who made a break and scored the winning try in the corner with under a minute to go, sealing the dramatic win for Worcester.

It was an impressive performance from both teams, and the final scoreline was a testament to the high level of rugby on display. The point scorers for DHS included Ockhuis, Mavuso (2), Willemse, and Luthuli, with Boesak adding three conversions. Worcester’s tries came from Hendricks, Mothibe (2), Jacobs, and Dliso, with Kustoor adding four conversions and a penalty
