Rondebosch, who held the lead at the top of the First XI Cricket Rankings for most of the season finish as the leading team in South Africa for 2022.
It has been a colossal arm-wrestle at the top of the table with SACS and Affies both in contention during the year yet few would deny Bosch the title. Their losses you could count on one hand, 3 in the T20 format and one a piece in the 50 over and declaration formats. Their unbeaten 15 match tour of the UK included winning the Silk Schools trophy and a record 6 of their first team players were selected for the WP U19 team. An incredible effort!
Waterkloof are arguably the Kings of the T20 format winning the North South Tournament and having now improved greatly in the longer versions have become genuine contenders. Along with neighbours Affies, Klofies have proudly shown why Pretoria is one of the country’s cricketing powerhouses.
Westville signed off the season with a strong win over Glenwood in their final match to sneak into the Top 10 Zone and finish as the leading KZN team in 2022. A good reward for a hard-working outfit.
We look forward to the 2023 season. Will Rondebosch stay at the top of the rankings? Time will tell. To the coaches, schools, parents and players thanks for all the inquiries, sending through the results and the support during 2022.
