The first Fairtree U16 Rugby Rankings of the season have landed — and as always, they bring with them plenty of excitement, discussion, and early-season intrigue. These rankings offer an initial glimpse into how teams are shaping up, but they are only the starting point of a long and evolving campaign.
It’s worth noting that this is not a traditional league table. School rugby operates across a wide and varied fixture list, meaning rankings must reflect more than just results on paper. Our system takes into account four key factors: strength of opposition, points scored, match outcome, and margin of victory or defeat — ensuring a more accurate and balanced view of performances nationwide.
At this stage, some anomalies are to be expected. With a limited number of fixtures played and differing levels of opposition, certain teams may find themselves in unexpected positions. As the season progresses and more games are completed, these early irregularities will steadily correct themselves, giving a clearer picture of where teams truly stand.
For now, embrace the early buzz, the debates, and the unpredictability — the U16 rugby season is up and running, and there’s plenty more to come.
