As the curtain closes on the 2025 sporting calendar, Crawford International Schools celebrate a year of outstanding sporting achievements.

Crawford Lonehill Sport is on the Rise in 2025

Crawford Lonehill has seen an incredible surge in sporting participation throughout 2025, with more students than ever involved across all sporting codes. Our teams have delivered standout performances this year, most notably, both our Netball and Soccer teams claimed victory at the annual Inter-Crawford Sports Festival hosted at Crawford North Coast.

Our young mixed cricket team celebrated a highly successful season, while our water polo programme continues to grow from strength to strength, now extending into the Preparatory phase. We proudly hosted the prestigious U15 Shaun Fuchs Water Polo Tournament, welcoming 24 schools from all over South Africa.

Hockey at Crawford International Lonehill is on the move as well, with both boys’ and girls’ teams entering competitive league structures. On the courts, our junior and senior basketball teams excelled, advancing to the playoffs of the ABC Rainbow League.

Our chess players also made their mark this year, securing multiple titles and showcasing the growing strategic strength of CCL’s sports.

With such momentum, CCL is excited for 2026 and the bright sporting future that lies ahead.

Crawford Pretoria:

Two Crawford Pretoria Students Compete at World Championships in Greece

This year brought a standout moment for Crawford International Pretoria as two of its own stepped onto one of the most competitive platforms in school sport. Chess has steadily grown across the campus and the dedication shown by our students has been clear throughout the year. That commitment reached a new height when Selina in the under twelve girls division and Alex in the under sixteen open division were selected to represent South Africa at the World Chess Championships in Greece.

Their inclusion in the national team speaks to many hours of practice, a genuine love of the game and the strong support system around them. Competing at a global level is no small undertaking for young students. It demands confidence, calm thinking and the willingness to test their skills against some of the best young players from across the world.

The school community followed their journey with great pride. Their participation reminded us that sport is not only about physical performance but also about discipline, strategic thinking and personal growth. Both students carried themselves with maturity and represented the country and the school with distinction.

As we look back on the sporting year, their achievement stands as one of the moments that captured the spirit of Crawford International Pretoria. It showed what is possible when talent is matched with opportunity and encouragement. Selina and Alex have set a strong benchmark for future students who dream of competing at this level.

At the same time, we aim to develop more structured pathways that identify emerging talent and facilitate their progression through the ranks. Furthermore, we believe in celebrating not only the exceptional performers, but also those who have shown significant improvement, dedication and sportsmanship — recognising that success comes in many forms and from many journeys.
