As the curtain closes on the 2025 sporting calendar, Marist Brothers Linmeyer highlights shine in a year of sporting excellence.

Marist Brothers Linmeyer High School Celebrates an Outstanding year in sports.

The 2025 sporting year at Marist Brothers Linmeyer has been exceptional, with students achieving remarkable success across multiple disciplines.

The Open Girls Soccer Team and U15 Netball Team had standout performances. Both won the Lady of Lebanon Tournament, while at the Women-in-Sport Festival hosted by Marist Brothers Linmeyer, the Open Girls Soccer Team placed second and the U14 Netball Team came fourth.

During the St Martin’s Tournament, the U15 Netball Team and Open Girls Soccer Team emerged as winners, with the Open Netball Team placing second. Both Girls Soccer teams have dominated in preparation for the JWV play-offs finishing top of their league. The Junior and Open Boys Soccer Teams also progressed to semi-finals in independent schools Soccer League with the U15 team finishing second overall.

Tennis and Squash teams enjoyed significant victories. The Girls Tennis Team won their league, while Squash Girls and Boys teams performed strongly in tournaments at St Andrews, St Stithians, TUKS, Menlo Park and Michael House. Three students represented Gauteng at the Annual Provincial Squash Tournaments, highlighting the school’s regional impact.

In other sports, the Chess team won the MBL-hosted tournament and finished third in the small schools’ league.

Athletics achievements included a record-breaking Inter-House Athletics meet, winning the Inter-Catholic Meet and finishing fourth at the Inter-High Athletics Meet. One Grade 10 girl dominated the Vitality 10km Series and will compete in the South African 10km Championships in Bloemfontein.

The U16 Squash Girls won the St Andrews Tournament and placed fourth overall in the St Stithians Tournament.

Other notable achievements include victories and strong performances in Rugby, Cricket, Basketball, Swimming and Golf, with five Golf Boys participating in the Woodlands Masters Tournament.

A Grade 10 student also represented the Johannesburg B Equestrian Team at Nationals and a Grade 11 student made it through to the U18 Golden Lions High Performance Rugby team.

From league wins to tournament triumphs, Marist brothers Linmeyer students displayed talent, teamwork and determination throughout the year. The school celebrates these accomplishments and looks forward to building on this success in the coming season as we enter new and more competitive leagues in 2026 and also embark on an exciting Basketball and Soccer tour to Spain.
