2025 has been a phenomenal year for sport at Roedean School, defined by growth, resilience, and excellence across every discipline. From the pool to the court and onto the fields, Roedean athletes have embodied the school’s values of determination, teamwork, and pride.
“It has been a year of immense growth and success. Our athletes have risen to every challenge with heart and commitment. We look forward to an even stronger 2026,” – Ms Marcel Lamont, Head of Sport
Aquatics: Making Waves in Every Arena
Roedean’s swimmers powered through an unforgettable season filled with determination and spirit. From the Summer Splash and Valentine’s Night Gala to the high-stakes Interhigh Premier Gala, our swimmers delivered record-breaking performances and countless personal bests.
The divers impressed from the first splash at Summer Splash, securing 4th place at National Aquatics. At Interhigh, both A and B teams excelled, with our very own Diver claiming a brilliant 1st place in the Open Section. Hosting the Central Gauteng Trials, Roedean celebrated seven junior divers earning provincial selection. The momentum continued at Inter-Schools Diving, where the team clinched 3rd place overall — a testament to hard work and precision.
Energy, teamwork, and grit defined the water polo season. The First Team dominated tournaments with podium finishes currently sitting at the Top of the SA Sports Log. The rising stars of Roedean’s pool made a splash by finishing 3rd at the St Mary’s Festival. Their unity, energy, and fearless play set the stage for an exciting future in the sport.
Racquet Sports: Serving Success and Smashing Records
Roedean Squash soared this season, with the U14s topping their league and both U19A and B finishing 2nd. The Top 6 team triumphed at the St Stithians Easter Festival and placed 2nd at Top Schools, while several players earned provincial honours — a stellar year of precision and power!
Court Sports: Passion, Precision, and Purpose
Netball at Roedean reached new heights in 2025! The U19s placed 2nd at St Andrew’s, the U17s earned silver at Brescia House, and the U14As placed 9th at the Roedean Autumn Sports Festival. The U17s also advanced to the Regional Championships.
Field Sports: Strength, Spirit, and Sisterhood
Senior School Hockey
It was a season to celebrate for Roedean Hockey. Victories over Beaulieu College and St Stithians broke a three-year streak, while the U14s placed 6th at the Roedean Autumn Sports Festival.
Congratulations to Taylor Billett (U18A), Lungelo (U16C), and Kutlo Morule (U16D) on provincial selection.
The Roedean Grade 3 Night Festival was a spectacle of youth sport, hosting over 600 young players in a festival of fun and friendship. Tours to Bloemfontein and Pretoria tested our teams and built confidence for future success.
The Roedean Spirit Lives On
From record-breaking swims to championship finishes and international tours, Roedean School’s 2025 sporting year will be remembered as one of passion, pride, and progress. Each athlete, coach, and parent played a part in creating a legacy of excellence that continues to grow.
As Ms Lamont reflects:
“Sport at Roedean is more than competition — it’s about character, courage, and community. 2025 was special, and 2026 promises to be even greater.”
