We look back on the 2025 hockey season—a year filled with upsets, drama, and moments of brilliance—as we unveil the SA School Sports Girls’ Combined Hockey Rankings. Staying true to tradition, these rankings merge performances from the U14, U16, and First XI teams, offering a complete view of each school’s entire hockey program.
What sets these rankings apart is their ability to honor schools that perform consistently across all age groups, celebrating institutions dedicated to nurturing young talent and building hockey excellence from the ground up.
This year, Paarl Gim takes the crown as the Top Girls’ Hockey School of 2025, showcasing strength and depth across every level of play. Their success underlines the fact that true hockey powerhouses aren’t defined only by the performance of their First XI but by their commitment to developing players at every stage. Schools with strong senior teams but weaker junior foundations inevitably feel that balance in the overall standings.
It’s important to note that these rankings are not crystal balls for predicting match results—school sport remains gloriously unpredictable, with every game carrying the possibility of a surprise. That unpredictability is what makes it so exciting.
