Northwood put together their finest performance for many a season when they took on high flying Hilton College this past weekend and did what few would have expected, win, and win convincingly!
It was a banana peel of huge proportions for Hilton College who just didn’t seem to have turned up for the match and a big feather in the cap for Northwood’s new Director of Cricket, Nantie Haywood to claim such a big scalp so soon in his tenure.
Rondebosch churned out another comfortable win over Wynberg which saw Maahir Jacobs hammering an unbeaten 81 runs and spin sensation Siviwe Nkonzombi snatching 4/21. This win and Hilton’s defeat, nudges Rondebosch into the No.1 spot on the rankings as we get down to the last fixtures of the year.
SACS also move into the top 5 zone with a win over struggling Bishops and Grey High School battled to overcome a game Kingswood College who just about pulled off a memorable win.
Another surprise result for some was the Graeme College vs St Andrews College match which saw Graeme prevail by 22 runs.
There were several top performances this past week:
- Michaelhouse’s Captain Adrien Fisher slammed 170 runs against the Kearsney College attack
- Gysbert Wege from Paarl Boys High went past 1000 runs for the year with his 74 runs vs Paul Roos Gym
- Grey High School’s Kaden Titus took 5/24
- Kloof HS (KZN) Sam Majola thumped 111 runs vs Hillcrest HS
