St Charles College has risen to within striking distance of becoming the leading basketball side in the country after a consistently strong season and are well placed in second position this week on the SA School Rankings.

Saints could well have been on top of the table save for a couple of bitterly close matches that went against them at the St. Johns College Tournament last month. The 39-40 buzzer beater defeat to Michael Mount in particular would have hurt as would the unexpected defeat to Kearsney College. Yet they have brushed aside many of the traditional basketball powerhouses and will be an even stronger team as the year progresses.

This week it is still the lesser known Michael Mount team that top the table. The Bryanston outfit have proved their skill and ability and it will be interesting to see how the handle the pressure of being billed the leading team in the country.
