Cricket:
Kearsney lost the toss and were put in to bat on what was always going to be a tricky track as a result of the heavy rain during the week.
The ball seamed around and the spinners also managed purchase and turn. Dylan Wiggett (38) played with aggression, as did Michael de Beer (57) as cautious cricket would inevitably result in dismissal. Take nothing away from a competent Michaelhouse team which utilised the conditions superbly and Kearsney were eventually bowled out for 20
Classically, wind and sun ensured that the track would dry out and play better as the day progressed; and Michaelhouse made 223/3 to win the game by seven wickets as a result. Whilst they were pushed to the 48th over, the result was never in doubt.
It was an excellent game of cricket which showcased two good sides playing cricket in the true spirit of the game and was appreciated by a sizeable crowd.
Kearsney 1st X1: 203 all out (Wiggett 38, De Beer 57)
