Sports News from St Andrew’s College Makhanda, including their rugby and hockey selections for provincial teams.
RUGBY | 1ST XV vs SELBORNE COLLEGE
St Andrew’s College hosted Selborne College from East London on Saturday and claimed an impressive 40–10 victory in front of a passionate home crowd.
Selborne got on the scoreboard first with an early penalty, but College responded swiftly with an unconverted try. The visitors briefly took the lead again with a converted try from a rolling maul, unfortunately, their last points of the game.
From that moment on, St Andrew’s dominated, producing a display of free-flowing, attacking rugby and running in four unanswered tries before halftime to take a 33–10 lead into the break.
The second half was quieter, but College maintained control and added a final converted try to secure a well-deserved win.
A strong all-round performance from the team, built on energy, skill, and cohesion.
Congratulations to the players and coaching staff!
