Sports News: Kearsney College weekend wrap up.

INDOOR HOCKEY

Kearsney Indoor 1st team drew with Ashton College 3-3

The Kearsney College 1st indoor hockey team took on Ashton College in a match that was nothing short of electrifying. From the first whistle, the pace was relentless, with both teams showcasing high levels of skill, intensity and determination.

Kearsney struck early, taking a 1–0 lead and setting the tone for what would become a fiercely contested encounter. Ashton responded with equal fervour, gradually turning the tide and pushing ahead to a 3–2 advantage.

Yet, Kearsney refused to back down. Demonstrating resilience and tactical awareness, they clawed their way back to level the score at 3–3.

As the match reached its climax, both sides found themselves in potentially winning positions, earning crucial penalty corners. However, neither team managed to convert these opportunities, leaving the scoreline unchanged and the result hanging in the balance until the final buzzer.

2025 SA High Schools Championship held @ Middelburg Country Club

Last week the Kearsney 1st Team attended the SA High Schools Championships in Middelburg. This event, organised by Golf RSA, saw the top 26 high school teams attend.

Kearsney finished 12th on the new course, with captain Matthew Gouws ending in tie for 17th.

 

The Kearsney Junior team travelled to Gqeberha for the Grey High Junior Links Festival. The boys played well on some challenging courses to finish in 7th position and were the top KZN team.
