Sports news from Cannons Creek Independent Primary School on their vibrant U13 Girls Hockey Festival they hosted on Friday, 29 August 2025, at the Hartleyvale Astro. The festival was played in an exciting 8-a-side forma, creating the perfect platform for young players to test their skills, enjoy competitive matches, and build lasting friendships across schools.

The afternoon was filled with action and energy as five schools — Herschel, Rallim Preparatory, Pinelands North Primary School, Micklefield Primary, and Cannons Creek Independent School — came together for a series of fast-paced fixtures. For many of the players, the festival was not only a chance to sharpen their game but also to experience the joy of team spirit, sportsmanship, and healthy competition.

Spectators were treated to end-to-end hockey as the girls showcased their determination, flair, and love for the sport. With every pass, tackle, and goal, the excitement grew, creating a buzz that carried through the entire afternoon. Parents and supporters filled the sidelines with cheers, adding to the festive atmosphere.

“The sun was shining and the energy was high, with every team giving it their all. A huge thank you to all the schools for making it such a memorable afternoon,” said Ms Stacey Block, Primary School Sport Co-ordinator at Cannons Creek.

The festival not only offered valuable match experience but also celebrated the spirit of youth sport — where learning, laughter, and a passion for the game come together. It was truly a day to remember, and the smiles on the players’ faces said it all.
