Girls School Hockey Rankings Heats Up: Top 12 Race Tightens as Teams Fight for Tournament Glory!
The race to qualify for the prestigious Oranje Meisies Super 12 and La Rochelle Rising Challengers Cup in the SA School Sports Girls First Team school hockey Rankings is hotter than ever! With only 4 weeks left until the qualification cut-off, this week saw dramatic shifts in the standings.
Herschel Shocks Bloemhof:
Herschel put on a dominant display, thrashing Bloemhof 5-1 in was was the ‘pink armies’ finest hour this season. This loss knocks Bloemhof out of their comfort zone as potentially comfortable Super 12 qualifiers (positions 1-12) and plunges them into a heated battle for a spot at 10th place.
St Anne’s Stumbles:
St Anne’s, previously climbing the ranks, suffered heavy defeats against Durban Girls’ College (DGC) and St Mary’s Kloof. This puts their top 12 position in jeopardy aswell and it proves that a bad day is all it takes to slide out of contention.
DGC on the Rise:
Meanwhile, DGC’s impressive win over St Anne’s propels them to the number 3 spot, sparking whispers of them becoming serious contenders for the Super 12 title.
