Boys First Team School Hockey Rankings: PRG Claims Victory in Hard-Fought Hibbert Shield Final
In a weekend filled with intense hockey action, the Hibbert Shield tournament saw some of the biggest names in school hockey competing. The tournament culminated in a thrilling final between Paul Roos Gym and SACS, with PRG emerging victorious. SACS, who had been in sublime form up to that point, looked poised to win the Cup but were outdone by PRG in the end.
PRG Rockets Up to 3rd Position, SACS Close Behind at 2nd
SACS’ performance throughout the tournament was commendable, and they move ever closer to the No.1 position, now sitting at 2nd. Meanwhile, PRG was rewarded for their weekend’s work by rocketing up to 3rd position. However, the elephant in the room remains St Stithians, who currently rest at the top of the table despite not participating in the Hibbert Cup. With remain fixtures that only includes one top 10 opponent it remains to be seen if any team can overtake them
Strength of Opposition Crucial for School Hockey Rankings
One of the main factors that the formula uses in determining the rankings is the strength of the opposition. As such, one of the best ways for teams to move up the table is to play against as strong an opposition as possible. Coaches are reminded to send through their results to [email protected] to ensure that their teams are considered for the rankings.
