The 2025 St John’s College Easter Rugby Festival returns,

celebrating 28 years of the best in schoolboy rugby

Johannesburg, South Africa – St John’s College is proud to present the 28th St John’s College Easter Rugby Festival, brought to you by Standard Bank, taking place on 17, 19, and 21 April 2025. A cornerstone of the schoolboy rugby calendar, the Festival continues to celebrate the very best in schoolboy rugby, school spirit, and community.

Well known for its focus on camaraderie, skill, and sportsmanship, this beloved Festival once again brings together top College and Prep school teams from across South Africa. There are no league tables, trophies, or medals at the Easter Rugby Festival—this is rugby at its purest, where passion for the game takes centre stage.

This year introduces a new format: while Thursday and Saturday still feature the traditional U19 and U13 fixtures, Monday introduces an exciting lineup of U16 teams to complement the U13 fixtures, offering young, aspiring players the chance to shine and gain invaluable experience on Burger Field.

“We are thrilled to once again host this celebration of schoolboy rugby,” says Stuart West, Executive Headmaster of St John’s College. “The Easter Rugby Festival is not about league standings or medals—it’s about the love of the game, the friendships forged, and the lifelong memories created. We extend a heartfelt welcome to all our visiting teams and thank Standard Bank for their continued commitment to youth development and community building.”

The Easter Festival is not just about the rugby—it’s a fun-filled day for the whole family, featuring food trucks, the much-loved Pre-Prep Brunch Spot, and the ever-popular Heineken Beer Village. For a more luxurious experience, spectators can enjoy the VIP Viewing Deck, a stylish, terraced space with prime views of Burger Field, a full bar, a gourmet food station, and private bathrooms.

All matches played on Burger Field and C Rugby Field will be live-streamed via SuperSport Schools, ensuring that family and friends near and far can be part of the action.
