Founded in 1846, Hoërskool Piketberg (PHS) is one of the oldest and most respected schools in the Western Cape. Nestled at the foot of the majestic Piketberg mountains, our school offers a safe, dynamic, and nurturing environment where learners thrive across academics, sport, and culture. Academic Excellence
PHS maintains a proud academic tradition, with a consistent matric pass rate above 97%. Our learners often exceed provincial averages, particularly in Mathematics and Physical Sciences. The school has been ranked among the top 10 Afrikaans Mathematics schools in the Western Cape. Our CareerClub program helps learners discover their strengths and guides them towards university, technical, or entrepreneurial paths.
Sport
Sport is central to life at PHS. We offer excellent facilities: two rugby fields, a cricket pitch, six netball courts, eight tennis courts, and access to a fully equipped local gym. First-team athletes receive professional strength and conditioning support. Our proud sporting tradition includes Springboks Champion Myburgh and Joos Prinsloo, and several recent provincial representatives.
Culture and Creativity
Learners flourish creatively through sêr, drama, music, Eisteddfod, public speaking, and choir. Our music centre prepares learners for UNISA and Trinity exams, with excellent results.
