Maritzburg College sports report of their recent sporting achievements
Congratulations to Maritzburg College’s 1st water polo team who competed in the Northwood Stayers tournament and delivered an excellent performance. Showing plenty of grit and determination, the team won three of their pool matches, and the quarter final against DHS, before progressing to the semis where they lost narrowly to Affies on penalties after reaching 5-5 at full time. The rest of College’s water polo teams and the basketball teams were up against Hilton College this weekend, with basketball securing 19 wins from their 21 games. Only four cricket matches took place at College on Saturday, while all the Hilton matches were cancelled due to rain. College’s 1st XI took part in the CSA T20 which was also affected by the weather.
Basketball
Once again College’s basketball teams delivered a commanding performance, winning 19 of their 21 games, with the 1st team beating Hilton 79-43.
