Kearsney 1st X1 lost to Westville 1st X1 1-4
The game kicked off with Westville keeping possession and trying to find a way through the Kearsney defence; but the hosts’ defenders stood firm and closed off any attack.
With half-time looming, Westville mounted an attack and a soft tackle by a Kearsney defender in the Kearsney box saw a Westville player go down. He stepped up and slotted the penalty, putting Westville 1-0 up going into the break.
In the second half both teams attacked, but the shots were either off target or easy for the respective keepers to contain. Westville eventually scored after one of these attacks, taking a 2-0 lead.
Kearsney had a corner awarded, and Hayden Bishop made a run from deep to volley the ball into the Westville net, making the score 1-2 with six minutes to go.
Kearsney then decided to go all out for the equalising goal, which exposed their defenders. Westville counted and scored two more quick goals, ending the game 1-4.
