SPORTS APPOINTMENTS

Kearsney has announced two senior sports appointments – Keegan Daniel takes up the director of rugby position and Keegan Pearce assumes the role of director of hockey.

A Sharks legend, Keegan Daniel earned 273 caps for the Sharks between 2006 and 2018, captaining the team from 2011 to 2013.  He also played 23 games for the Kubota Spears in Japan and earned five Springbok caps between 2010 and 2012.

A highly respected hockey man, Keegan Pearce has eight years’ experience within coaching structures of the SA Hockey Association and SA Schools. He is currently head coach of the SA Schools boys’ hockey team, the assistant coach of the SA U21 men’s team. Keegan has been involved in two SA men’s hockey team events as a video analyst and junior trainer; and has been head coach of KZN Schools U14A, U16A and U18A. He serves on the KZN High Schools Committee as the head of high performance, and is convenor of selectors for the KZN U18 Schools team.

WATER POLO

Kearsney College is delighted that 16 water polo players have been selected for various KZN age group teams, as players and reserves.  They will participate in the IPT which takes places in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) from 9-13 December.

In addition, Stephen Joubert has been selected as assistant coach/manager of the U15A team.

Selections are:

U14A: Max Mills, Reece York, James Whatmore (non-traveling reserves Clement Makelele, Mcebisi Zulu)

U15A: Levi Thom, Thomas Aylward, Thomas Francke, Oliver Ludwig

U16A: James Pohl, Luca Sandri (non-traveling reserve Robert Smith)

U19B: Blake Kruger, Elihle Hadebe (non-traveling reserves Ryan Sim, Callum Clark).

Kearsney’s U14A water polo team competed in the annual Northwood Tournament over the weekend. It consisted of a round robin format, with the top two teams contesting a final. Kearsney lost to Hilton in the final.
