SOCCER

DHS 1st X1 beat KEARSNEY 1st X1 3-0

From the kick-off DHS attacked the Kearsney goal a number of times, but goalkeeper Samelo Shweni did well to save these numerous attempts. A DHS through ball forced the Kearsney goalkeeper to come out, but the ball was lobbed over him into the net.

Kearsney had a number of chances to score, but were unable to capitalise on their chances and went into the break a goal down.

The second half began with Kearsney dominating, but a DHS corner against the run of play resulted in a free ball which DHS kicked into the unguarded net.

With Kearsney putting everything into attack and leaving little defence, a counter attack from DHS resulted in another goal to make the final score 3-0.

DHS RUGBY 7S

Kearsney u15 team were in a pool with Ferrum and Westville. They managed a strong 40-0 win against Ferrum but struggled with possession in the second game and lost to Westville 0-21. This put them second in their pool, to face Glenwood in the cup quarter final. Glenwood were too strong, and Kearsney lost 12-26. They then faced St Charles in the plate semi-final, winning 28-14, advancing to the plate final against Northwood. A tightly contested final, Kearsney managed to win the plate final, 19-12.

Kearsney u17 team were in a pool with Hilton, DHS and Sharks Tier 2B team, starting with a hard fought 12-5 win against Hilton. They then faced the Sharks team and had a good 27-7 win. Their final pool game was against DHS. The boys fought hard during the entire game, but lost 14-26. This meant they faced Glenwood in the cup quarter finals, which was a tightly contested game, which they ended losing 5-12. Kearsney then faced St Charles in a trivial play-off game, winning 22-12.
