SA School Sports Girls First Team School Hockey Rankings – Latest Edition
We’re now just weeks away from discovering which elite teams will earn their spot at the two most sought-after school hockey tournaments in South Africa! With the season heading into its final stretch, every goal, every pass, and every victory could tip the balance in this thrilling race.
The margins between the top teams have never been tighter, and the St Anne’s Cup served as yet another dramatic chapter in this fiercely contested journey. The tournament brought out the very best in the top contenders, but it was Menlopark who ultimately laid a strong claim to a golden ticket.
In a top-quality final against Our Lady of Fatima, Menlo’s grit and precision paid off. After failing to convert six penalty corners, it was Carla Potgieter who deftly deflected a thunderous strike into goal to give Menlo the edge. The momentum continued with Monique Gerber, whose brilliant playmaking sealed the 2-0 win and handed Menlopark the St Anne’s Cup title.
St Anne’s, buoyed by home advantage and a string of solid performances, also made their mark with a strong showing that propels them into the Top 10 this week.
The real dogfight, however, is brewing between positions 9 to 13, where a single result—positive or negative—can cause seismic shifts in the rankings. With the cut-off approaching fast, every match from now on carries massive implications.
The Top 12 teams on the SA School Sports School Hockey Rankings will earn their place at the Oranje Meisies Super 12 Tournament, while positions 13-24 will be invited to compete in the exciting Rising Champions Cup hosted by La Rochelle.
