First XI Cricket Rankings: 08/11/2022

As we draw to the final stages of the 2022 school cricket season there is still an ongoing tussle at the top of the First XI Cricket Rankings.

Rondebosch, Affies, SACS, KES and Waterkloof all recorded wins during the past week, but as most realise not all wins are equal and any movement on the table depends on the strength of opposition and margin of victory.

Rondebosch remain at the top of the First XI Cricket Rankings following their expected win over Paul Roos Gym and Affies were good enough to beat a strong St.Stithians side by 2 wickets. SACS benefited by a few dropped catches by Wynberg to get over the line by 1 wicket and KES enjoyed a dominant win of St. John’s College.

Some stand out performances from the week included a brilliant 124 runs by Dean Teeger from KES in their win over St. John’s as well as Declan Ritchie who claimed 5/34.

Northwood’s James Nielsen and Mo Karodia were in top form in their win over Clifton with Nielsen top scoring with 143 runs ably supported by Karodia’s 81.

Note

Having published the school cricket rankings for the past 15 years it has been wonderful to see how its popularity has grown and how the interest and support for the rankings continues to surge and expand. We want to remind coaches that we always have welcomed inquires about their team’s standing on the table and look forward to that engagement each week. However, unless an error has been made in capturing the match data, no amount of pleading or threats will result in teams being moved up or down the table. The rankings are published without fear or favour. ED
