Fasken Time Cricket Festival final day wrap up!
The 2025 St David Marist Fasken Time Cricket Festival wrapped up on Sunday with a flurry of standout performances. Four of the six matches produced results, bringing the overall tally to seven across the two rounds—the highest in the festival’s nine-year history. It’s clear that coaches and captains are mastering the demands of the two-day format.
Bold declarations paved the way for several victories—precisely the lesson the format was designed to teach. After three days of flat pitches favouring the batters, it was the spinners who finally took centre stage on the closing day.
There were five 5-wicket hauls taken in the second innings of the games, and a further 4 “fourfers”. The most economical figures came from KES’ Steele Grooteman, who took 5/35 against Clifton, to go with his 4/48 in the first innings. Those figures helped him to best economy rate, and the most wickets, and he was named the Bowler of the Tournament.
Taigo Dias, also of KES was 78 not out in the second innings against Clifton, and 101 not out in the first. He totalled 109 in his first match, which meant he was the top run-scorer, with the best strike rate, and he was named the Batsman of the Tournament.
Jason Rowles of St David’s was the Player of the Tournament. He scored the second-most runs, in fewer knocks, and also took wickets cheaply. He captained his side to two excellent wins – their best performance ever at the festival.
The 2025 St David Marist Fasken Time Cricket Festival once again proved its value in developing both players and leaders. With record results, fearless declarations, and bowlers rising to the challenge, the festival highlighted the spirit of positive, competitive cricket. It was a fitting conclusion to an event that continues to grow in stature and impact each year.
