Bishops Hold Firm at No.1 as Water Polo Rankings Intensify
The latest Sportsmans Warehouse SA School Sports Boys Water Polo Rankings see Bishops holding onto the top spot after proving their mettle at one of the toughest tournaments on the school calendar – the KES Tournament.
Facing a formidable Hilton College in the final, Bishops were pushed to the absolute limit. With nothing separating the two sides across the tournament—both teams racking up an impressive 70 goals apiece—it all came down to a nail-biting penalty shootout. Bishops kept their composure to edge Hilton 4-2, sealing their claim as the country’s top team for now.
Meanwhile, St David’s ensured Johannesburg’s presence on the winners’ podium, putting in a dominant showing at the Reef Cup. Their path to victory wasn’t without drama, as a determined Affies side gave them a serious scare in the final. However, St David’s showed resilience to fight back and take the title, keeping their momentum alive in the rankings.
