Overview:

Maritzburg College’s sportsmen produced outstanding results across various sporting codes over the weekend. Competing at the 2025 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships in Györ, Hungary, Keegan Vogt finished in an incredible 2nd place in the Men’s K1 race and took bronze in the K2 event.

The College 1st XI cricket won their match against Glenwood, while the 1st XI soccer also brought home two wins.

Congratulations to Maritzburg College’s F Pillay, who won the Golf – Matchplay Championship 4/2. There was also plenty of rugby 7s, athletics, tennis and cycling action from the #RedBlackWhite.

Canoeing

Congratulations to Keegan Vogt who produced outstanding performances at 2025 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships in Györ, Hungary. Keegan finished in an incredible 2nd place in the Men’s K1 race. Paddling with partner Ryley Smith in the K2 Men’s race, Keegan finished in bronze position.

Soccer

College hosted Northwood for a full round of soccer fixtures over the weekend, winning eight of their 18 games, drawing five and losing five.

The 1st XI competed in the FA Cup winning both their games; vs Nomaswazi 2-1, and vs Howick 2- 0.

Well done to College’s U15 rugby 7s team who took 2nd place in the Nashua 7’s Rugby tournament hosted at the school. The U17 team won two games and lost two.

Maritzburg College 1st XI produced a match -winning performance against Glenwood, winning their match by 13 runs.

Golf

Athletics

Maritzburg College took part in the 1st aQuellè Spring Series meeting of the year, competing against 28 schools and finishing in 4th place overall. College achieved three 1st places, two 2nd places and three 3rd places.

College’s U15 tennis teams took on Hilton earlier in the week, with the 15A team winning three of

their six matches, and the 15B team winning an excellent five of their six matches.

The College Cycling team took part in race #4 of the KZN series hosts at Howick High, producing good results especially in the sub-junior and junior categories.
